  4. Relocating factory assets for Krotos plugins

Krotos plugins use large libraries of factory assets which can take up space on your local disk.

Here is a procedure for manually relocating your factory assets to an external hard drive.

Please note that at this time, you will need to install to your local disk, and then move the factory assets to an external drive. We will be looking into other solutions to improve this process as soon as we can.

This article contains the process for both OS X and Windows, please scroll to the bottom of this article for Windows information.

OS X STEPS

This procedure uses OS X symlinks to link to your factory assets on an external drive, allowing for full use of Krotos plugins with the library on an external drive on OS X.
Please note this uses the ‘ln’ command in terminal (lower case ‘L’, not upper case ‘i’), if you are typing these commands in to terminal rather than copy-pasting these commands from the text below.

IGNITER
Go to
/Library/Application Support/Krotos/
Copy the ‘Igniter” folder to a location on an external drive (This procedure is the same for any Krotos product, simply swop out the Igniter folder for any other product folder in the same location)
e.g. MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Igniter_Factory Assets
Delete the Igniter folder from /Library/Application Support/Krotos/Igniter
Open Terminal
Type in the following commands, substituting the appropriate locations on your external drive:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Igniter_Factory Assets/Databases /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Igniter
This will link to the databases folder, and any other folders for the product you are moving the assets for.
Now do the same for the Library folder:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Igniter_Factory Assets/Library /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Igniter/Library
Now do the same for the Presets folder:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Igniter_Factory Assets/Presets /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Igniter/Presets
Depending on your system and speed of your external hard drive, it may take a little longer to load the plugin or access presets, but all factory assets, presets and file browser behaviour will be available, as if the assets are on your local disk

WEAPONISER
Go to
/Library/Application Support/Krotos/
Copy the ‘Weaponiser” folder to a location on an external drive (This procedure is the same for any Krotos product, simply swop out the Weaponiser folder for any other product folder in the same location)
e.g. MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Weaponiser_Factory Assets
Delete the Weaponiser folder from /Library/Application Support/Krotos/Weaponiser
Open Terminal
Type in the following commands, substituting the appropriate locations on your external drive:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Weaponiser_Factory Assets/Databases /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Weaponiser
This will link to the databases folder, and any other folders for the product you are moving the assets for.
Now do the same for the Library folder:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Weaponiser_Factory Assets/Library /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Weaponiser/Library
Depending on your system and speed of your external hard drive, it may take a little longer to load the plugin or access presets, but all factory assets, presets and file browser behaviour will be available

REFORMER/REFORMER PRO
You will only need to move your preferences and database files for Refomer/Reformer Pro, since you are already able to install/relocate audio files manually.
Please note these instructions are the same for both Reformer and Reformer Pro, since both plugins use the same database files in the same location.
Go to
/Library/Application Support/Reformer/
Copy the ‘Reformer” folder to a location on an external drive
e.g. MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Reformer_Factory Assets
Delete the Reformer folder from /Library/Application Support/Krotos/Reformer
Open Terminal
Type in the following commands, substituting the appropriate locations on your external drive:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Reformer_Factory Assets/Databases /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Reformer
This will link to the databases folder, and any other folders for the product you are moving the assets for.
Now do the same for the Library folder:
ln -s MY EXTERNAL1/Relink_Reformer_Factory Assets/Library /Library/Application\ Support/Krotos/Reformer/Library
Depending on your system and speed of your external hard drive, it may take a little longer to load the plugin or access libraries.

WINDOWS STEPS

This procedure uses symlinks to link to your factory assets on an external drive, allowing for full use of Krotos plugins with the library on an external drive on Windows.
We reccommend typing in the mklink commands as the double quotes do not always copy correctly into the command prompt.

IGNITER
Go to
C:\ProgramData\Krotos (Check the ‘Hidden items’ box in the View tab if you cannot see the ProgramData directory)
Copy the “Igniter” folder to a location on an external drive (This procedure is the same for any Krotos product, simply swop out the Igniter folder for any other product folder in the same location)
e.g. D:\Krotos files\Igniter
Delete the Weaponiser folder from C:\ProgramData\Krotos
Open a command prompt with administrator priviledges (right click cmd and select Run as Administrator)
Type in the following commands, substituting the appropriate locations on your external drive:
mklink /d “C:\ProgramData\Krotos\Igniter” “D:\Krotos files\Igniter”
Depending on your system and speed of your external hard drive, it may take a little longer to load the plugin or access presets, but all factory assets, presets and file browser behaviour will be available
